With a rapidly growing number of online orders, weekly store deliveries and direct deliveries from suppliers to customers, ANWB Retail in Harderwijk could no longer rely on the old system. Richard Broerse, operational project leader at ANWB Retail: “We investigated new options and invited various parties for a demo. Vanboxtel came out on top. The future-proof solution, the way of working and the 24/7 support were exactly what we were looking for.”

Processes focused on the customer

What characterizes Vanboxtel? “We always organize our Warehouse Management System according to the customer's processes,” says project manager Koen Strijbosch. “That is why, at ANWB Retail, we also started with a series of workshops. During these interactive sessions, we mapped out the wishes, processes and obstacles together with the employees. Based on this, we were able to tailor our solution to the customer's operation.”

Smooth implementation

The challenge in this project? ANWB Retail also replaced all other systems at the same time, including the ERP software. “Quite an operation,” Richard says. “But Vanboxtel was there to guide us from the start and our dedicated implementation engineer was on site at least twice a week to set up the system. And if we ran into any problems, we could discuss them right away. In fact, the solution was often set up in the testing environment after just a few days, ready for testing.”

Integrations and optimizations

Koen: “The WMS in the ANWB warehouse runs on our standard solution, with various integrations. For example, the system is linked to nShift, which means that labels are requested automatically and printed directly by carriers. This saves time and prevents errors.”

Faster and more efficient picking

“The new WMS means a significant efficiency boost for us,” Richard says. “Whereas planners used to spend a lot of time planning, this process now runs smoothly and reliably, leaving the planners with spare time for other duties. In addition, the system carefully determines the most efficient picking strategy. Our people on the floor only have to follow the system and no longer have to decide on a picking strategy themselves. This means orders are processed faster and more efficiently.”

Ready for the future

With the Vanboxtel-WMS, ANWB Retail is future-proof. Not only has the logistics operation been improved, but flexibility and scalability have also been increased – ready for the challenges of today and tomorrow.
