With Vanboxtel's warehouse management system and support, Futurumshop has streamlined its logistics processes, gone through several relocations and increased capacity without compromising on speed and quality.
Vanboxtel and Futurumshop have been working together since 2010. "With the rapid growth of our webshop, automation became crucial," says Harmen van der Meulen, founder and managing director of Futurumshop. "Vanboxtel set up a system that grows along with our business. We now process an average of 60,000 parcels a month, with the same number of warehouse employees as in 2010 - and that's thanks to the WMS."
Gerco Vermeer, development manager at Futurumshop, says: "Vanboxtel was also involved in the relocations to new warehouses in 2011 and 2022. In the implementation of the technology, but also in the strategic planning and design of the logistics processes." Harmen adds: "Relocating your operation is really complex, but the intensive support meant that all the processes ran smoothly."
One of the biggest improvements came in 2015, when Vanboxtel introduced the pick-to-light system. "Before that, warehouse employees worked with pick slips and sorted by hand," explains Matthijs van Boxtel, managing director of Vanboxtel. "With pick-to-light, we automated the entire picking and sorting process, from the moment the order comes in right through to the truck getting on the road." Gerco says: "This helped us tremendously to speed up the process and minimise errors even more."
The partners are now working on migration to SaaS-WMS. It’s a logical step, explains Matthijs. "Futurumshop has long operated on-premise, but now it’s time to switch to the cloud. It offers greater scalability and more security, as well as better support in the long term." Gerco says: ”It’s great that we can rely on the people at Vanboxtel during such big steps. They’re not just there for the technology, but also give honest advice and support our employees throughout the process.”
